Practice assignments are made by the City of Lubbock Parks and Rec. Dept.  They are reserved for SPGF use on a first come first serve basis.

1)  Use this website - the information on this site can change often, visit 2 or 3 times a week to stay informed.  This can be your best tool to stay up to date!

2)  ACE certification - all coaches and one assistant coach MUST attend this clinic in order to receive ACE certification.  The league will pay the cost for the head coach, the assistant must pay $30 (split this with the head coach and each only pays $15).  Anyone else may also attend and pay the fee for the training and certification.  This is sponsored by the ASA and USA Softball.  You may be asking, "Why?"

 

- ACE certification provides the coach with the tools to teach fastpitch softball

- Your registration fee also provides you with $5 million of insurance

- You receive a handbook which covers nearly everything from communication to practice organization

3)  Videos - The league has purchased a set of instructional videos in DVD format from USA Softball.  Each video may be checked out through Paul Smith in the following manner:

  - each video must have a $50 cash deposit

- only one video may be checked out by an individual at a time for a period of 3 days

- lost, damaged, or non-return will result in the forfeiture of your deposit

4)  Forms - all coaches will familiarize themselves with the three new forms the league has adopted concerning player movement.

5)  Coaching clinic/ Certification - Clinics are held at he LP&L meeting room located directly north of the Mackenzie Park softball fields.  ACE certification and the clinic are on the following dates and times:

  (10U, 8U, Pixie) TBD

(12U, 14U, 18U) TBD

Makeup day (all divisions) TBD

6)  Game day - Duties that are the coach or team representative's responsibility:
  - First game of day at field, each team fills water jug with ice and water (1/2 bag of ice per can)
  - First game of day at field, home team sets up bases and machine (MP only)
  - After each game, both teams clean and clear dugouts immediately following conclusion of game (hold team meetings off field) and parents clean up stands.
  - After last game at field, home team pulls up bases and stores them in field 5 locker (South field locker for SF).  Machine shall be stowed upon completion of last MP game.
  - WINNING TEAM reports the score of game to the concession stand posted schedule.
  - Both teams must turn in All-Star ballot
